Join our Hardcore Clean Up Crew to make a true difference to our waterways. Do you want to make a difference, well our hardcore team is always looking for extra hands. NB: You must book a ticket through Eventbrite to attend this event. This opportunity is NOT FOR CHILDREN. We need hardcore crew. You're feet will get wet, we play in the mangroves in mud and fight mosquitoes all day. If it isn't the mosquitoes then the sand flies will get you. Thankfully we are sponsored by Bushmans. You need to wear clothes that cover you from top to tail. They will get wet and muddy. Shoes need to be solid but suitable for getting wet. Gumboots are ideal. The work involves picking up rubbish, often half buried or under trees. Some of the debris is small, others are large. With 6 people of varying size we can usually handle anything. Have I painted an amazing pictures yet? Yes this is not 'your' every day clean up, this is an Ocean Crusaders Clean Up. This is reality and we are seeking hard core volunteers to join us for a day or two here and there. There are only 5 spots available on the boat each day so we can keep social distancing. Please reserve a ticket on Eventbrite and if you can't make it, please have the courtesy to cancel your ticket so someone else can come. We don't want to end up with only a few people on the boat. We will be leaving from the Shorncliff public Boat Ramp next to the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club at 0800. We usually return to the ramp by 1300.

Red Power Internationalism during Canada’s ‘Long Seventies’ My lecture will provide a reconstructed history of Red Power radicalization and Indigenous-Marxist cross-fertilization during Canada’s “long seventies.” It examines the political work undertaken by numerous Red Power activists and organizations from 1967 to 1982. It argues that Indigenous political organizing and theory-building during this period borrowed substantively and productively from a Third World-adapted Marxism which provided an appealing international language of political contestation that they not only inherited but sought to radically transform through a critical engagement with their own cultural traditions and land-based struggles. Not unlike many radicalized communities of color during this period, these activists molded and adapted the insights they gleaned from Third World Marxism abroad into their own critiques of racial capitalism, patriarchy, and internal colonialism at home.
