Prepare to step into a spectacular new chapter for melodic hardcore act BLOOM, with the Sydney five-piece set to release their eagerly-anticipated sophomore album alongside the announcement of a national Australian headline tour to officially launch the album. Appearing at Mo's Desert Clubhouse on the Gold Coast this coming February, joined by special guests AVOID (USA). One of the most prolific rising acts on the Australian heavy scene, BLOOM emerged in 2017, introducing the world to their open-veined take on melodic hardcore that would ultimately build into their 2024 debut full-length, Maybe In Another Life. Wasting no time to rest on their laurels or the acclaim that accompanied their debut LP, BLOOM quickly turned their gaze to working on their sophomore album The Light We Chase (due out October 31 via Pure Noise Records); a multi-faceted and matured collection of songs that finds the band extending their creative reach beyond internal and external expectations. Recently ticking off performances with Silverstein in Europe earlier this year, as well as performances throughout 2025 alongside Chelsea Grin, Currents, Trophy Eyes, and their own almost entirely sold out run in support of single Withered last month, BLOOM are now currently on the road with fellow Aussie staples Thornhill and Ocean Grove in the UK and Europe, and will close out the year in North America supporting Silverstein. With their live show declared most recently by HiFi Way as 'a rip-roaring success', and Scenestr praising that 'the energy is purely unmatched and is definitely a contender for performance of the year', BLOOM's anticipated return to Australian audiences in 2026 is only set to ignite further following the release of The Light We Chase. A band with no shortage of adjectives to describe their high-octane sound, spanning engaging, edgy, erratic, irreverent, wild, vibrant and fun, Seattle five-piece AVOID channel the insatiable sonic legacy of their home town into their own unique aesthetic, bringing passion, innovation and provocation back into heavy music, while also building a powerful community in the process. Following a massive year for both his bands the Hard-Ons and Nunchukka Superfly - and before another big year gets into gear with the Hard-Ons and their national co-headline tour with Redd Kross - Peter 'Blackie' Black, guitarist and songwriter extraordinaire, is set to release two new solo albums - his first since he released two solo albums in November 2020 - on February 6, 2026. Entitled Boss is Gone Gone Gone and A Bowl of Spiders, the two records were made simultaneously over a 9 month period, once again at Pet Food Factory with Jason Whalley and Jemima Perry-Ewing, then mixed at Parliament Studios by Lachlan Mitchell and mastered by John Ruberto. Sez Blackie: "It's two albums again 'cause I just had too many songs I wanted to record .. Boss is Gone is purely acoustic - again I wanted to see if i could pull off something so quiet - and Spiders is eclectic.. and like everything I do I always hope the new stuff is better than what I've done before :-). How I differentiate these songs (from Hard-Ons or Nunchukka songs) for the most part is very easy. Some are personal and I wanted to do them myself, some I wanted to experiment with and one I was told 'save that for ya solo album Blackie' so i did hahaha. I'm really really happy with both..." And Blackie will tour the album nationally in Feb, hitting Vinnies for an arvo show on Sat 14 Feb. Heavy-hitters praise Blackie's last couple of solo records: “These two fantastic albums are simply bursting with ideas and, both lyrically and musically, there are surprises at every turn... Fascinating, entertaining and bloody brilliant!” – Dave Faulkner (The Victims, Hoodoo Gurus) "Both discs offer a melodic salve for our weary times... Blackie, thank you for making these records, we need them right now!" - Steve McDonald (Redd Kross / Melvins) "It’s great how far reaching and ambitious Peter Black’s solo stuff is. Great vocal melodies... "-- Warren Ellis (Dirty Three / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) “Beautifully produced pop.. and pop with a capital P too. ... everything Blackie has done is quality... but the addition of acoustic and harmony has taken Blackie into classic rock territory.. and if that means joining the likes of Brian Wilson and The Byrds why ever not. " – Captain Sensible (The Damned)
