This powerful film follows young people who step up to tackle big issues in their communities and shows what’s possible when youth voices are heard and taken seriously. It’s a story about leadership, courage, collaboration and creating real, lasting change. After the screening, hear directly from young people across our communities as they share their experiences, ideas and passion for making a difference. Youth Development Officers from both councils will also be there to connect with you, answer questions and explore how you can get involved locally. This event is open to young people aged 12–25 who are curious about: Having a stronger voice in their community Influencing decisions that affect young people Building leadership skills and confidence Connecting with like-minded peers Turning ideas into action Whether you’re already involved or just starting to think about how you can make a difference, this is your opportunity to learn what’s possible. We’re also exploring the opportunity to form a group of interested young people from across our districts who would like to continue the conversation through hands-on learning workshops connected to the film. These workshops focus on practical skills, civic engagement and creating positive change, and could be the starting point for something powerful in our region. Come along, bring a friend, and be part of a conversation. Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. And together, we can create meaningful change in our communities.

For children ages 5-10 years. STEM learning led by Jenny Westall. With hands on experiments each week your child will explore a variety of scientific concepts in a fun way. Inquiry learning backed with at-home extension activities to continue and deepen the learning. The focus will be on following the children’s interests with broad focus topics as follows: Week 1: Forces Week 2: Geology Week 3: Air Week 4: Chemistry 1 Week 5: Chemistry 2 Week 6: Marble Runs Week 7: Magnetics Week 8: Physics Week 9: Earth Science Week 10: All of our Favourites! Science is an important part of children’s learning because it helps them build critical thinking skills, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. From a young age, children are naturally curious; they ask questions and explore their surroundings. Introducing science early supports this natural curiosity and encourages a lifelong interest in learning. Along with supporting cognitive development, participating in science-based activities also helps children develop motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and social skills. Please note: younger siblings allowed but will not be allowed to join in with experiments or activities due to small parts. There will be some sciency type toys for younger children.
