Led by 5th generation resident and Mitcham Councillor, Andrew Tilley, this walk begins at the historic manure pits and then proceeds through Ellison’s Gully. Andrew has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the area’s pre- and post-colonial history. Hear about the market gardens, the silver and galena mines and the Mitcham Waterworks. The fauna of the area includes koalas, kangaroos, eastern rosellas and sulphur crested cockatoos. All this just 8 kilometres from the CBD.
Former SA Premier Mike Rann will launch Geoff Goodfellow's new book of poems, 'Nostalgic Adelaide'. An afternoon of poetic history with refreshments and readings by Adelaide's internationally acclaimed poet. Signed copies of Geoff's book will be available. Presented by the Labour History Society of SA as part of South Australia's History Festival 2026.

Join David Buob from the Glenside Historical Society for a tour of select heritage buildings which were originally part of the Parkside Lunatic Asylum are now the Adelaide Central School of Art campus. David will take the tour through the architecture and rich social history of these buildings with focus on the former Mens P+O Ward, Dining Room and Erindale. Learn about the buildings and their function over the past 125 years. The tour will commence at 11am from the palm tree in front of the Adelaide Central School of Art administration building.
