Across two hours participants join forces in small creative teams guided by experienced mentors. Together they explore melody, lyricism, theming and rhythm, shaping new work that culminates in a live performance at the session’s end.
Yauar Warai Wandi - Sing Dance Gather celebrates the living relationships between flora, fauna and Country. This vibrant gathering honours First Nations strength, spirit and storytelling, bringing community together through both contemporary and traditional creative expression. The event pays tribute to Gubbi Gubbi knowledge and its deep connections to neighbouring Jinibara, Quandamooka and Butchulla Country, sharing stories of land, waters, seasonal change and the beings – plant, animal and ancestral – who shape them. Through collaborative sculpture, ceremony, music and performance, Yauar Warai Wandi offers a powerful expression of connection to Country, inviting audiences to listen, learn and gather in a shared moment of cultural celebration.
From Aotearoa New Zealand, Oli Mathiesen with Lucy Lynch and Sharvon Mortimer present the award-winning The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave, an endurance-based dance work to the booming techno album 'Nocturbulous Behaviour' by Suburban Knight. Exploring the movement vocabulary used in techno and rave culture, a contemporary nightclub between 3 bodies emerges. Relentless movement, seamless without pause, detailed down to every beat. The atmosphere and culture of a 3-day rave condensed into a high art, streamlined performance where you watch the destruction of 3 human beings commence in front of you. Indulge in the pain, the sweat, the cathartic mess; a display of pure endurance to achieve a goal. A spectacle of the human body as a victim to music, as a victim to passion, as a victim to our endless desire to achieve more. To win and win again.

In a time where algorithms curate taste and AI blurs the line between creation and imitation, this night is about reclaiming something real. A reminder that sound is physical, that energy is shared, and that art only truly exists when bodies gather in the same room. This is a call to step out of the feed and into the moment — to reconnect in a cyber-punk present that feels closer to collapse than ever, where being together is not just a choice, but a necessity. Expect a retro-futuristic drift through post-punk, new wave, old school techno and psych textures — a space where analog warmth meets synthetic pulse. Visuals designed to pull you into a fractured future imagined decades ago, now unfolding in real time. A night for crate-diggers and music obsessives: post-punk/disco DJ set by Ilan Finkel, Luca Zisa live set, and The Lipsticks as the headline band. Come for the music. Stay for the people. Leave reminded why human art still matters.
