Horizon Festival proudly presents a vibrant celebration of Indigenous creativity with BLAK OUT – a dynamic showcase of storytelling, culture, and resistance through art at LANTANTA Space in Moffat Beach. The exhibition is open from Friday 1st May to Sunday 10th May from 10am to 3pm. Located at Lantana Space - 15 Allen Street, Moffat Beach.

In this discussion-based workshop, participants will have the opportunity to hear about Andrew's practice and gain practical tips and techniques about how to approach the world, and especially its people, with a camera in hand. The prospect of photographing people you don't know can be nerve-wracking or even downright terrifying. The way a photographer deals with such responses can make the difference between seeing the potential for a beautiful photograph and realising it; it can also dictate whether the experience of photographing in public places is enjoyable, stressful, or even confrontational. Andrew will talk through some ways of overcoming inhibitions that all photographers focusing on real life as it happens contend with, and help to take the first steps toward putting them into practice. The presentation will be followed by a guided walk through the exhibition space discussing how Andrew has put into practice the ideas he has presented.

Join us to celebrate Icons of the Sunshine Coast! Opening Event Presented by Equity Works in partnership with Horizon Festival. The collection will invite audiences to experience the region’s unique atmosphere, culture, and spirit through deeply personal and diverse perspectives. Each artwork will explore iconic places, memories, people, objects, and concepts – revealing interpretations that are distinctive, authentic and inspiring. More than an exhibition, Icons will act as a platform for inclusion and representation. It will amplify voices that are often unheard, creating a space where artists with disability can share their stories, identity, and talent with the wider community. We are excited to be a part of Horizon Festival 2026! Horizon Festival is an annual arts and cultural festival exploring the intersections of art, people and place on Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country, Sunshine Coast.
