Put your creativity to work and walk away with something you'll actually use every day! In this hands-on after-school sewing workshop, students will design and sew their very own drawstring pencil case from scratch. Beginners will learn how to thread the machine and grow in confidence with every stitch. There's no pressure to rush — each time a student sits down at the machine, their skills and comfort grow a little more. Working step-by-step with guided instruction, students will be introduced to key techniques that form the foundation of quality sewing: Planning & Design, Precision Cutting, French Seams, and Drawstring Insertion. Sewing is not a race; it is a skill that takes time, patience, and practice to develop. Whether it takes 1 or 2 weeks, every student will have a completed drawstring pencil case they designed and made themselves.
