Join us for the next era of Wordcraft — where we host our premier open mic, but with more...drama. Yes, this is still the night for poems, songs, stand-up, and everything you’ve been too scared or too excited to share... WORDCRAFT is now where our host will bring a fresh act, every month, bringing you on the journey of writing her next show. Think leopard print-obsessed burlesque, spoken word, character and play - a woman endlessly unfurling... Let's see what happens... 🎤 Wren Rapture — national award-winner, literary judge, TEDx speaker, artist, and human in process — is returning from London with grit in her jungle cat skin. Devoted to this project and the mission of safe expression for all, let's see what's in store. ✨ How our open mic works: This season - we’ve got 10 performance spots, (5 mins) plus a range of alternating segments, including but not limited to (Icebreaker, Old Timer and Stagecraft...) On arrival, speak with our producers, write your name and drop it in the hat. Once the show begins, the lineup is pulled live from the stage — pure serendipitous magic. 💖 Expect: Human BEINGS gathered to celebrate our humanity, raw and in process. Anticipate a buffet of belly laughs, tender shares, healthy heckling, applause and that warm community buzz that travels home with you long after the night ends. Oh! and there are 2for1 meals on Tuesdays. Lucky us! 🎁 Opening Night Raffle - $600 worth of prizes! Win a one-month enrolment in Wordcraft Writers — our brand-new writing club for creatives wanting to deepen their craft, build discipline, and grow inside a supportive community. (Yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds.) + tickets and books to be won too! 🎭 On the night you have access to: A performance playground with piano, projector, instruments, space for loopers + props — plus our Wordcraft Crew ready to support you bring your wildest ideas to life. First time on the mic? Hot. Tell us so we can celebrate you! Been doing this forever? Do it again. Tonight, let's gather together. Our Rules: Please respect the boundaries of performers and our production team. We reserve the right to ask you to leave for any reasonable reason. No hate speech or trauma dumping on stage. Remember, you can speak freely and make your art, but we have a responsibility to the people around us. Be mindful of what you're sharing for your own psychological safety and for that of the room. Ask Wren about this if you feel the need; she's always available for this conversation. Got questions, nerves, or last-minute brilliance? 📩 DM @wordcraft.wren or @wordcraft.events We honour Wurundjeri Country and First Nations storytellers — the original keepers of our songlines. Thank you for the origins of our spoken word, and for everything we are yet to learn. Approximate Running Time: 2 hours & 20 minutes Get ready to laugh yourself silly under the stars as the Australian Shakespeare Company brings back one of its most beloved comedies - Twelfth Night. Meet Sir Toby Belch - the man believed to have invented partying; Sir Andrew Aguecheek - dispossessed of any intelligence & naturally silly; Malvolio - a power-hungry puritan who falls from a great moral height when pushed by Sir Toby; and Maria - the housemaid who outwits Malvolio & house-trains Sir Toby. Then there's Viola, the shipwrecked girl who cross-dresses as a boy to find work, Olivia, the grieving noblewoman who rejects one suitor only to fall for another in disguise, and Orsino, the lovesick Duke whose heart changes course when truth & identity collide. The Australian Shakespeare Company continues its much-heralded tradition of Shakespeare Under the Stars - a night of laughter, love and lyrical mayhem for audiences of all ages. .
