Share your early Gold Coast memories at a welcoming conversation group for the Australian Heritage Festival. Join us for a welcoming and reflective community gathering celebrating the stories that have shaped life on the Gold Coast. Through guided conversation prompts, we’ll spark discussion about how the city has grown, what we’ve gained, what we’ve experienced and the moments that have stayed with us. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or arrived more recently, your experiences are part of our shared heritage. You’re invited to bring along photographs, memorabilia or keepsakes to share if you wish. Come along to listen, reminisce and share your Gold Coast story.
Remembrance Day is a memorial day commemorated on 11 November and it marks the end of the First World War. It is a day to mourn and every year on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we fall silent for 1 minute to remember those who served their country during the war.
Discover how the Gold Coast’s earliest pubs evolved into community landmarks in this engaging Heritage Festival talk. From humble timber hotels to brick venues with ballrooms, join Gold Coast Libraries’ Local Studies team for a fascinating exploration of how some of our earliest pubs evolved and adapted as the city transformed. More than places to break a long journey or enjoy an evening out with friends, pubs were strategically positioned gathering places and central landmarks in some of our earliest suburbs. Come along and celebrate the Australian Heritage Festival with us at this informative presentation.
