Reception: Won the Jury Prize and Soundtrack Award at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Described by critics as a 'major film' and a 'raw,' 'deeply moving' experience. Some reviewers, however, found the narrative, often, 'exasperating' or 'pointless'.

Join renowned American artist Kate Thompson for an inspiring workshop and discover the art of mixed media bookmaking in Canberra. We will create a fabric and paper book that evokes a vintage, timeworn aesthetic. This unique creation will feature an artful blend of antique linens and laces, vintage ledger papers and ephemera, botanical eco prints, watercolour papers, acrylics, earth pigments, pastels, charcoal, wire and tin, and other thoughtfully curated materials. Using multilayered mixed media techniques to create a personal and expressive book such as collage, mark making, embroidery, image transfers, distressing lace and fabrics with plaster, make a faux antique tin type photo, dyed papers, botanical printing, bookbinding and more. You will leave with a tattered and torn, timeworn book, filled with vintage treasures.
Join the Hands On Studio artists for an afternoon of Ink Drawing at Canberra Contemporary. Water Following an interactive walkthrough of the exhibition, attendees are invited to sketch their personal experiences and associations with water, drawing inspiration from the surrounding works and practices of the Hands On Studio artists. The workshop encourages conversation and creative exchange throughout the afternoon, reflecting the collaborative approach of the mural and the artists themselves.
Join us at Canberra Museum and Gallery for an exclusive, expert-led architectural tour celebrating Enrico Taglietti’s iconic Canberra designs. Guided by architect, author, educator and Australian Architecture Association President, Tone Wheeler, this unique Heritage Festival experience will visit some iconic Taglietti buildings across the city. Tour participants will enjoy rare access to buildings normally closed to the public, and be immersed in Taglietti's distinctive use of space, material and light. The tour includes an Italian lunch at Agostinis and concludes with a curator-led tour of the Taglietti: Life in Design exhibition at CMAG.

Join us for our free Canberra and Region Heritage Festival glassblowing demonstration with artist Katie-Ann Houghton! This year's Heritage Festival celebrates mid-century innovation through studio glass, a field defined by experimentation and creativity. Visitors can watch live glassblowing demonstrations of mid-century inspired light fixtures, make their own slumped glass tealight holders in hands-on kilnforming workshops, or take a guided heritage tour and see parts of the old Kingston Powerhouse – usually off-limits to visitors. The Powerhouse opened in 1915 to provide coal fired electricity to the new city of Canberra. It was permanently decommissioned in 1957 and in 2007 the building was converted into the Canberra Glassworks, turning industrial heritage into a vibrant hub for contemporary craft. This demonstration provides an opportunity to observe contemporary glass practice in action within an active studio environment, revealing the timing, skill, and collaboration behind the finished work.
