Rachel was born and raised in Salem, Oregon and began her painting journey while she was still working as a bedside nurse in 2015. Initially creating work that served as a way to process emotion, she now draws on her own abstracted impressions of nature and water. She works primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, occasionally incorporating oil and acrylic pastels. Her aim is to reimagine the natural world; leaning into non-representational shapes and layers.

Tap into your creativity and paint your own pet at this fun watercolor workshop! Whether you're an experienced artist or a complete beginner, this event promises a fun, no-pressure environment to create beautiful watercolor masterpieces while enjoying the finest local wines curated by a terrific staff. We’ll be creating a painting of a beautiful mountain slope! Chemeketa Cellars is home to the viticultural studies program of the local community college and features award winning student made wines and a lovely setting. It is absolutely worth the drive to West Salem to explore and experience, come a little early to chat with the helpful tasting staff and try some delicious wine.
Please join artist Marie Watt at this free and open to the public printmaking event at the Oregon State Capitol! Experiment, play, and learn how to make pressure prints with Marie Watt and professional printmakers! Together, we’ll create personal prints and optionally contribute to a future community-generated artwork for the art collections of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Oregon State Capitol. If you would like to donate your plate (or a print), it will be quilted together with other prints to make a larger composition that, like democracy, will explore the relationship between part and whole, individual and community, call and response. Participants will be able to take home their prints as well as a reciprocal gift of a limited edition print created by Marie Watt.
