Learn how to prepare for flash and riverine flooding, including warnings, safety tips, and what to do, followed by free morning tea. Join Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) for a practical, easy-to-understand session focused on staying safe during flood events. You’ll learn the difference between flash flooding and riverine flooding, how to recognise risks, understand warnings, and take simple steps to protect yourself, your family, and your property. This session is designed for everyone, no prior knowledge needed. SES volunteers will share real-world insights, answer your questions, and help you feel more confident about what to do before, during, and after a flood.
Learn how to spot scams, protect your personal information, and stay safe online with practical tips from Crime Stoppers Victoria. Join Crime Stoppers Victoria for an important and informative session on recognising and responding to elder abuse. This workshop helps community members understand what elder abuse is, the different forms it can take, and the warning signs to look out for. Elder abuse can include financial, emotional, physical, or social harm, and is often carried out by someone the person knows or trusts. Many cases go unreported due to fear, shame, or lack of awareness, making community understanding and early action critical. You’ll learn how to have safe conversations, where to seek help, and how to report concerns anonymously through Crime Stoppers. The session also highlights the shared role we all play in protecting older people and supporting their independence and dignity.
