Find the best music events and make the most of your time next 30-days in Hobart. From music to mindfulness and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.

Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand, and formed musically in the dance music revolution of London in the late ’90s and early Y2Ks, FreQ Nasty started his career on the seminal UK Breaks & Bass label Botchit & Scarper, where he released the classic breaks album ‘FreQs Geeks and Mutilations’ in 1999 and his first international hit ‘Boomin’ Back Atcha’ featuring UK Hip Hop MC and MOBO award winner Phoebe One. Soon after its release, he signed to SKINT/Sony Records alongside Fatboy Slim, Dave Clarke, and X-Press 2. Over the coming years, he went on to release a slew of cutting-edge Breaks and Breakbeat Garage records, collaborating with &/or remixing Fatboy Slim, Kelis, Santigold, Bassnectar, KRS One, Roots Manuva, Rodney P, and Reggae legend Junior Delgado and becoming a fixture of the global Electronic Music scene. 2008 saw the release of both ‘Creator’, a collab with MIA producer Switch and Brooklyn vocalist Santigold that launched Santigold’s career, and soon after, he unveiled his FABRICLIVE 42 mix CD (DJ Mag’s‘ compilation of the month’), released on legendary London nightclub Fabric’s label. FreQ held a multi-year DJ residency at Fabric whilst also becoming one of Burning Man festival’s most loved DJs, and his signature Bass-heavy sets have been a pilgrimage for fans of the legendary Nevada desert festival for years. The 2010s saw FreQ focusing his energies on meditation and Yoga, becoming a trained teacher in both the Theravada Buddhist and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, as well as studying Yoga philosophy. This led to the creation of a series of workshops focused on the intersection of music and meditation, which he presented at festivals, studios, and events globally. By the early 2010s, FreQ was back in the studio and released the ‘Low Frequency Pureland EP’ (DJ Mag ‘MoneyShot’ 10/10), and #loveistheonlyanswer’ single (2020) on Muti Music, and joined the SubPac tactile music start-up, helping to create new ways to use the sense of touch to perceive music. In 2018, he launched a scientific exploration of music as a healing modality, founding a music-based medtech startup with Stanford Neuroscientist Dr. Gary Heit that was awarded a government medical grant to explore the emerging field. At the same time, his music appeared on Mark Ronson’s ‘Watch The Sound?’ (Apple TV, 2021), Taika Waititi produced ‘Reservoir Dogs’(Hulu, 2021), 'Self Made: Madam CJ Walker' (Netflix, 2020), and Warner Bros’ 'Black Lightning' (2019), amongst others. The early to mid-2020s have seen FreQ put his energy back into the studio and his label, ‘Between the Silence’, releasing a variety of left-field bass music, breaks, and garage that has been supported by newer DJs luminaries such as @Fish56octagon, Sicaria, Mary Droppinz, as well as OG producer legends like Noisia, MJ Cole, and BT. DJs start in the beer garden from 5:00pm and finishes inside with Freq Nasty at 10:00pm
