We recommend you attend this walk as part of your preparation for a Big Heart walk or if you have another walk that you are training for. Training walks are an opportunity to test your gear, ask questions, gauge your fitness and see how your body responds to walking on consecutive days, on terrain similar to what you can expect on your tour. Your leader for this training walk is likely to have done the Cape to Cape or the Nakahechi (or both), and they will offer advice and help with your preparations.

We also recommend bringing at least 2 litres of water, personal medications/blister kit, walking poles (if you plan to take them), and snacks/lunch. We will check the forecast and remind you all what to expect prior to the walk, but weather can be unpredictable, so it is important to be prepared. We recommend wearing warm layerable clothing as the temperature can change quickly, and the extra layers can also keep you warm during breaks. Our leaders carry group first aid kits, emergency communication devices and are qualified and experienced bushwalking leaders.
