This Circle explores the hidden side of treatment failure: the emotional impact on the dentist. Every clinician experiences complications, failures, and outcomes that don’t go as planned. We talk extensively about managing patient expectations and clinical protocols — but rarely about the emotional impact on us as dentists. This Circle explores the hidden side of treatment failure: self-doubt, shame, fear of reputation damage, loss of confidence, sleep disruption, and the silent pressure to “always be competent.” Through guided conversation and shared experiences, we will examine how complications affect our identity, leadership, and personal well-being — and how to navigate these moments with resilience, growth, and integrity. This is not a clinical troubleshooting session. It is a safe space to discuss the emotional weight of being responsible for outcomes — and how to carry it without losing ourselves.
Register here for the 2026 WHI Investigator meeting! This year we are thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Dr. Carolyn Mazure. Dr. Mazure is a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Women’s Health Research at Yale School of Medicine and the founder of Women’s Health Research at Yale, the university’s interdisciplinary center focused on the interplay of sex, gender, and health, which she led from its creation in 1988 through June 2025. In 2023, Dr. Mazure was appointed Chair of the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, aimed at transforming how women’s health research is approached and funded nationwide. Her work examines the intersection of biological and social influences on women’s health, gender-specific resilience strategies, and health policies that promote women’s economic stability, and she has held numerous national policy and advisory roles, including with the NIH Office for Research on Women’s Health and the U.S. Congress. The 2026 meeting will cover a range of topics of interest to researchers, and provide an opportunity for investigators to meet, interact, and share their insights. The confirmed Symposia include: Keynote: The Evolving Future of Women’s Health Research, Circulating hormones, menopause related symptoms, and cognition, Opportunities within WHI Long Life Studies, Vision and Eye Disease Data in WHI – Past, Ongoing, and New Studies, Leveraging multi-omics to identify novel mechanistic insights into chronic diseases of aging and exceptional longevity among WHI women, and Blood-Based Biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Pathology in WHIMS: Novel Insights into Risk Profiles, Cognitive Aging, and Healthy Longevity.
