Education Events in Monticello

Join Kalyx Center for Sustainability for a hands-on mushroom log workshop on Saturday, April 12th at 1pm. Learn the steps to inoculating a log with mushroom spawn. This class offers a comprehensive opportunity to learn how to cultivate shiitake, lion's mane, and oyster mushrooms. From log selection to mushroom storage, you'll gain a thorough understanding of the process and take home your own log(s) to nurture into fruiting. Workshop leaders Chandler Womack and Sean Williams will cover how to source mushroom logs, what trees provide the best wood for this purpose, how to source inoculation equipment, and how to actually do the task itself. It's an exciting opportunity to explore a new skill and gain hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation.
