Join Kalyx Center for Sustainability for a hands-on mushroom log workshop on Saturday, April 12th at 1pm. Learn the steps to inoculating a log with mushroom spawn. This class offers a comprehensive opportunity to learn how to cultivate shiitake, lion's mane, and oyster mushrooms. From log selection to mushroom storage, you'll gain a thorough understanding of the process and take home your own log(s) to nurture into fruiting. Workshop leaders Chandler Womack and Sean Williams will cover how to source mushroom logs, what trees provide the best wood for this purpose, how to source inoculation equipment, and how to actually do the task itself. It's an exciting opportunity to explore a new skill and gain hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation.

Enjoy a selection of delicious donuts on board your own private car! Join us at the Monticello Railway Museum for a fun breakfast and private railcar experience on board our Illinois Central business. The departure times are at 8:30 AM and 10 AM from our Nelson Crossing depot. Please visit our website for additional information and to purchase your table onboard. But don't delay, tickets will go FAST! Seating for this event is sold as a table of 8 in our Illinois Central business car #7. Pricing for The Donut Train Private Car is $375 for a table of up to eight passengers, all ages included. The table will receive 2 dozen donuts to enjoy during the approximately 1 hr. long train ride, which you will be able to take home with you at the conclusion of the journey. An assortment of drinks and juices will be available for your choosing as well. All food and beverages are included in the price of your ticket!

Join us for an exciting family friendly event, Pizza on the Rails on board one of our historic open window passenger cars. Each passenger will enjoy their own personal pizza from Domino’s as well as drinks and dessert! Passengers can choose from a Cheese, Pepperoni or Sausage hand-tossed pizza. Drink options will include a variety of sodas, tea, and water and cookies will be served for dessert. Ticket pricing for this event is $28 for adults and $23 for children (2-12).
