Great Aunt is an award-winning Australian folk duo known for their soaring harmonies, unique instrumentation, and heartfelt live performances. Winners of the 2024 Folk Alliance Australia Duo of the Year, Megan Bird and Chelsea Allen blend folk, country and roots music with influences from their backgrounds in punk, jazz, soul, and rock to create a sound that is entirely their own. The duo has performed at some of Australia’s most renowned folk festivals—including Woodford Folk Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival, Yackandandah Folk Festival, and Cobargo Folk Festival — and completed four tours of the United States, including performances at Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Maine, and Red Ants Pants Music Festival in Montana, and esteemed listening rooms such as Club Passim and The Purple Fiddle. They’ve shared stages with Adeem the Artist (US), Joe Crookston (US), Vika & Linda Bull (AUS), The Weeping Willows (AUS), Mary Flower (USA), and Kerryn Fields (NZ), among others.
