Kristina Chan dissolves the boundaries between performer and audience in the immersive projection cube at MAP mima. Movement unfolds across the space, with dancers embodying the fluidity, tension, and mystery of the inner self. Alex Brunton’s 360-degree multi-channel film projections envelop the audience in shifting landscapes that blur the line between the external environment and the landscapes of the mind. Complementing this visual and corporeal language is James Hazel’s hypnotic, undulating soundscape, which ebbs and flows alongside the choreography and guides the audience toward states of deep listening, contemplation, and embodied awareness.

Their commission for MAP mima transforms the 360-degree Cube into a shifting environment of sound and vision, enveloping audiences in layered imagery and atmospheric soundscapes. Drawing on their interest in the everyday, the natural world, and the intersections of human experience with technology, the work invites viewers into a world that feels both intimate and expansive.
