Explore the vibrant event scene and make the most of your time in Brunswick Heads. From music to trivia and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.

Some songs come in a rush; some take their sweet time. "“Starlights" took us almost 5 years to build”, says Birds Of Tokyo guitarist Adam Spark sheepishly. “It always felt like we were trying to find something just beyond our reach”. “We spent ages trying to understand what this song was meant to be - we just couldn’t force it”, adds singer Ian Kenny. So, there’s a strange symmetry in the anthemic rock track finally falling into place just as a perfect purpose revealed itself. This Sunday The Starlight Foundation - a high-profile charity which offers hope to seriously ill children - launches “Streamas”, a campaign using special online appearances to raise much needed funds for worthy work. “Starlights” has been donated as the soundtrack for “Streamas” campaign and Birds of Tokyo will kick off the campaign with a special YouTube performance. Alongside a slew of summer concerts across January and February - including lots of new dates announced today (see below for all the details) - Birds Of Tokyo will also do some more hospital visits with Starlight Foundation to keep drawing attention to their good work. All five Birds Of Tokyo members are now parents to young children which gives The Starlight Foundation’s work personal resonance, therefore, unlike the song itself, the idea of associating “Starlights” with the charity fell into place immediately. "There’s something beautifully meta about all this”, Adam Spark reflects. “After half a decade of experimentation we ultimately ended up with a song that's about letting go of your fears and seizing the day so, as things have turned out, we couldn’t have come up with a better soundtrack for The Starlight Foundation if we had tried.” “Starlights” is released today (Friday November 28th) and Birds Of Tokyo will launch “Streamas” with that exclusive YouTube fundraiser this Sunday, November 30. Tickets for all new shows will then go onsale on Monday, December 1 at 10am local times. THE GROWLERS with THE GROGANS JANUARY 2026 22 – NORTHCOTE THEATRE, MELBOURNE, VIC 23 – TORQUAY HOTEL, TORQUAY, VIC** 24 – KING ST BANDROOM, NEWCASTLE, NSW 25 – MIRANDA HOTEL, CRONULLA, NSW 26 – LIBERTY HALL, SYDNEY, NSW 28 – KING’S BEACH TAVERN, SUNSHINE COAST, QLD 29 – FELON’S BARREL HALL, BRISBANE, QLD 30 – HOTEL BRUNSWICK, BRUNSWICK HEADS, NSW 31 – MIAMI MARKETTA, GOLD COAST, QLD ** THE GROGANS NOT APPEARING After six long years, cult-favourite band The Growlers return to Australia as part of their first global run since 2019—a highly anticipated revisit that fans old and new have been waiting for. The 2026 global tour kicks off in Australia, where the band will perform across the East Coast with Melbourne’s very own The Grogans supporting. Fronted by the compelling presence of Brooks Nielsen, The Growlers’ return opens a new chapter in a story rooted in Southern California underground mythology. The band built a devoted global fanbase by pioneering the “Beach Goth” aesthetic — a fluid mix of surf-garage-pop-punk — and became legendary for early club and warehouse tours aboard their now-mythic school bus “Lizzie,” much in the spirit of the Merry Pranksters’ Furthur. The Growlers have made records with both Dan Auerbach and Julian Casablancas, and their studio evolution reached a high point with the Casablancas–produced album City Club alongside the earlier Chinese Fountain. And now, with longtime drummer Richard Gowen back in the fold, the chemistry that defined their best live shows has returned. While The Growlers paused full touring in 2019, Brooks Nielsen kept the creative engine running. Over the past few years Nielsen has released five solo albums and played hundreds of shows worldwide. That prolific solo era recently concluded with two sold-out nights at the Hollywood Palladium on October 30 & 31, 2025, setting the stage for The Growlers’ return. The band’s resurgence arrives with fresh music: the swaggering new singles “Feel My Funk” and “Crisis” deliver the familiar mix of groove and grit fans expect, and the recent Beach Goth Tape archival release shows they’re dialling in both nods to the past and bold moves ahead. The Growlers are back — ready to celebrate the songs, the fans, and the legacy that’s brought them here.

Jack Botts has become one of Australia’s most genuine, relatable and prominent voices in surf-folk, captivating audiences around the world with his easy going sound and heartfelt storytelling. In just a few short years, he’s gone from busking on coastal streets to selling out headline shows across North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand — his music amassing over 100 million streams along the way (and he still isn’t a stranger to a coastal street busk!). With songs that feel like a warm breeze and lyrics that speak to life, love, and the quiet moments in between, Jack’s music continues to resonate deeply with fans old and new. His effortless live presence has seen him share stages with Hozier, Tash Sultana, Myles Smith, Ocean Alley, JP Saxe and Boy & Bear, as well as perform at major festivals including Boardmasters (UK), Cigale (CAN), Maifeld Derby (GER), Electric Castle (ROM), and Latitude Festival (UK). As he returns home for his Summer 2026 tour, Jack brings with him the stories, energy, and connection built from years on the road — ready to deliver the kind of sun-soaked, feel-good shows that have made him a favourite both at home and abroad.
