Building connections between tradition and transformation. “Bridges to Innovation: Transforming Learning Assistance in Changing Times” Set in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, this conference highlights how institutions can bridge the gap between established academic support models and the evolving needs of today’s learners. Through collaboration and experimentation, we can construct stronger pathways to student achievement.

This is a workshop for those who want to engage difference with greater clarity, steadiness, and care. Dialogue is often spoken of as though it were simply another word for conversation. But dialogue asks something more of us. It asks us to slow down enough to notice our own assumptions, to listen beyond our rehearsed responses, and to become willing participants in shared discovery rather than defenders of fixed positions. In this workshop, participants will explore the foundations of meaningful dialogue by looking at both the inner and outer dimensions of communication. We will examine what dialogue is, how it differs from debate and discussion, and why it so often breaks down. We will also explore the role of self-awareness, nervous system regulation, interpretation, and relational skill in shaping the quality of our conversations. Participants will be guided through a combination of reflection, whole-group dialogue, and structured practices that strengthen listening, inquiry, grounded response, and the ability to remain present in difference. The aim is not persuasion. The aim is to cultivate the conditions in which understanding, honesty, and deeper contact can emerge.
