Come get hands-on experience with our expert baker and leave with all the tricks of the trade! Love our sourdough? Have you tried making it at home but couldn’t quite get the hang of it? This is your chance to finally learn how to make and maintain a starter, mix a loaf of bread by hand, and bake the perfect loaf at home. You will learn about baker's ratios, how to adjust recipes, and how time and temperature play a role in the outcome of your bake to help you make the perfect loaf, everytime! Students will come away from the class with their own sourdough starter, an unbaked loaf of bread to bake at home, a baked demi loaf to enjoy later in the week, and an instructional pamphlet and recipes to keep you inspired.
Identify spring wild greens, learn to cook with them, and take some home to use in your own kitchen! Join herbalist and forager Natalie Hammerquist for a hands-on spring greens experience at Carnation Farms, held in conjunction with the Carnation Farms Spring Market. We’ll begin in the vegetable fields, where you’ll learn to identify, harvest, and work with seasonal greens. Together we’ll harvest greens for the group, and participants will also be able to gather some to take home. After harvesting, we’ll move into the classroom to cook and cook up two simple, nourishing preparations that highlight spring greens: Wild Green Pesto and Ripassata. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of spring greens, printed recipes, fresh greens to take home, and practical inspiration for using greens simply and deliciously. After class, participants are welcome to explore the Carnation Farms Spring Market at their leisure. No prior experience necessary — just curiosity and a love of good food.
Explore the world of wine and uncover high-quality bottles at everyday prices, guided by sommelier Janet Beeby! Wine is a grocery, not a luxury, and finding a beautiful wine at great value can be an exciting treasure hunt. In this class, you will taste your way around the world with sommelier Janet Beeby and discuss geographical regions, wine-making techniques, why some wines cost more, and where in the world to look for top-notch wines at everyday prices. The class will feature a generous snack board to complement the wines and keep appetites happy. This is an interactive event perfect for those who want to explore the world of wine but also appreciate a good bargain!

Join us for an intimate meal at Carnation Farms, where the beauty of the season comes to life through thoughtful food and good company. This September, we’re hosting a special farm-to-table dinner highlighting pasture-raised lamb and beef from right here on the farm, freshly-picked organic veggies, and perfectly paired wines featuring guest Chef Kurt Dammeier. You’ll kick off the night with a guided walk through the fields alongside our Director of Agriculture, Eric Popp—he’ll share how we grow and graze with care in the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley. Then, settle in at the table for a multi-course dinner crafted by Dammeier and inspired by the season. This is your chance to meet the folks behind your food—our farmers, chefs, and local partners—and savor the last bits of summer in the fresh air. Come hungry, curious, and ready to connect!
