Find the best environment events and make the most of your time in Portsmouth. From education to nightlife and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.
Join our Master Birder for a free, guided birdwatching tour of Paradise Creek Nature Park. Birdwatching is more than just a hobby - it's a way to connect with nature, reduce stress, improve your mood, and boost your brain power. Birders of all levels welcome.
Join the Elizabeth River Project's Conservation Landscape Curator Yolima Carr at Paradise Creek Nature Park to learn the proper way to prune your trees and shrubs. Skillful pruning doesn't just help your plants thrive - it's an excellent gardening practice to reduce or eliminate the use of pesticides. Event is free but donations are appreciated.
Help Protect Wildlife—Volunteer for a Marsh Cleanup! Seasonal north winds blow trash into the marsh at Paradise Creek Nature Park—and our local wildlife needs your help. Litter along riverbanks doesn’t just look bad—it poses serious risks to birds, fish, and other creatures that call the marsh home. Plastics can entangle animals, pollute their habitat, and even enter the food chain. We’re calling on volunteers ages 15 and up to join us to remove debris and restore this vital ecosystem. Every piece of trash you collect helps protect nesting areas, feeding grounds, and the health of the river itself. We’ll provide boots (if needed), gloves, trash grabbers, and bags. Please bring water and sunscreen, wear long pants and close-toed shoes, and consider a long-sleeve shirt for extra protection. Come make a visible difference for the river and its wildlife—your time and energy are appreciated.
