Part of our Newlin Speaker Series, this talk explores fabric and clothing production in the Colonial era. Textile specialist Eva Mergen will delve into types of tools and raw materials used in fabric and clothing production, division of labor between men and women, how production differed in other parts of the colonies, international trade, and more! This talk will also include some demonstrations as well as the opportunity to ask questions.
Get ready to carve out some fun at the Whittling Workshop, where you'll turn a simple piece of wood into a work of art! Rick Schuman of For Woodness Sake will be leading a beginner woodworking workshop. In this workshop you will create a wooden flower while you learn about techniques and tools for working with wood. Class size is limited to 8 participants, ages 12 and up. Cost is $15/person and includes all tools and materials.
