Discover the best events and make the most of your time in Springfield. From education to environment and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.
Join us for dancing, dining, and all things denim! This event supports Breaking Free To Be Inc's Trauma Education in our community.
Join us to learn the basics of creating a pollinator garden. This workshop will provide an overview of how to create space for a wide variety of pollinators in your own yard. We'll cover how to provide for the basic needs of pollinators, garden design, and plant selection. Participants will be invited to take home some perennial pollinator plant starts.
Join us for our second kitchen gardening workshop to learn how to keep your garden producing all season. Many spring planted gardens begin to falter as we move into August. This workshop will cover techniques for maintaining high productivity in your kitchen garden through the heat, and how to replant for a continuing harvest all the way to winter.
Learn how to choose a composting system that works for you. Often, it's quality compost that makes the difference between an ok garden and a great one. Buying compost can be overly expensive, and making your own can sometimes be overwhelming. This workshop will survey a variety of home composting techniques from the passive to active, and will include vermiculture. We'll examine the pro's and con's of each strategy, so you can find the system that best works for you.
Join us for a cooking demonstration of the autumn's root harvest. The gardens fall root crops, such as beets, turnips, radishes, and so on, grow beautifully in the autumn, but are often neglected in the kitchen. This workshop will offer ideas of how to keep them interesting on the plate. We'll be harvesting fresh roots from the garden and then prepare them using several different techniques. Then we'll enjoy tasting our efforts.
