Join the Freshkills Park Alliance in our mission to transform the former Fresh Kills Landfill into Freshkills park as a Docent! Docent Orientation will be a great opportunity to connect with other docents, both new and returning, and to learn more about Freshkills Park and our upcoming programming. This orientation will have a run time of 2 and a half hours and we will distribute required materials ahead of time. There will be food provided at the beginning of the program. You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program.
Reunite and reminisce with classmates and friends as we celebrate half a century of life after eighth grade.
Our seasonal aura workshop series is back for 2026 combining aura photographs and journaling as tools for self-reflection. Once a season, we will gather at Alice Austen House to sit for portraits made with the AuraCam6000, a specialized camera system that uses touch sensors to reveal radiant aura fields around the body. The physical readings from someone’s hands produce an image that is entirely unique to each individual. As a group, we will discuss and interpret the colors present in our portraits, and what meaning they may hold in our current lives. Each workshop session will include time for self-reflective journaling and thoughtful writing prompts based on your latest aura portrait. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own journals through a guided book-making session during our first meeting. This workshop meets quarterly throughout 2026.
