PISTOL SHOOTING FUNDAMENTALS FOR THE BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE SHOOTER. This class is designed for beginner to intermediate shooters to build skills, techniques, and confidence. It covers basic pistol safety, range safety, shooting fundamentals, concealed carry responsibilities, and more. All students must have a valid current New York State issued pistol permit and understand shooting safety fundamentals.
This is a multifaceted class designed to introduce the intermediate or advanced shooter to the various aspects of efficient, effective and accurate pistol shooting fundamentals and foundational skills. Intermediate and advanced shooters will benefit as we will help diagnose and correct any shooting errors or problem areas to help improve your shooting abilities. This is also an opportunity to work on any areas that the shooter themselves would like to request. Course breakdown includes range orientation, firearms safety, shooting principals, warm-up drills, reloading techniques, dry fire/live fire drills, accuracy and speed development drills, engaging multiple targets, gear discussion/selection, alternate shooting positions, and Q&A.
Join us for a woodland walk to learn about local forest ecology and management practices used to maintain healthy, productive forests. Join us for a guided woodland walk at the Clearpool Model Forest! Certified forester Chris Prentis from Lower Hudson Forestry Services will lead us through the trails to discuss the best management practices and land use strategies used at Clearpool to maintain a healthy and productive working forest within the NYC Watershed. See various forest stands and hear about silviculture methods, and local forest ecology. In addition, learn about the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Forest Owner (MFO) program and how you can request a free forest visit to help prioritize your woodland goals or become a volunteer MFO yourself. Participants will receive a follow-up email with helpful digital resources.
MAG20 - Armed Citizen’s Rules of Engagement with Massad Ayoob - Carmel, NY is a two-day, 20-hour immersion course in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered.
