Find the best adventure events and make the most of your time in Searchlight. With our biggest adventure event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.
Join us on Saturday, February 21st for a guided hike on the first part of the Castle Peaks trail, which combines an opportunity to observe the remnants of early cattle grazing in the East Mojave Desert and its colorful history and a biologically rich landscape with panoramic scenic vistas of both close and distant mountain ranges, including Spirit Mountain (Avi Kwa Ame). The hike goes through a Joshua tree wooded scrubland community and grasslands environment with a wide variety of cacti and desert scrubs. Thanks to the recent rains, there are likely to be plants in bloom. We will be hiking south from corrals about 1.25 miles, through the landscape and ending at more historic corrals and the state line marker. We will meet at 8:30AM at the Denny's in Searchlight, at 100 US Hwy 95. There are no restrooms at the trailhead, so make sure to use the facilities at Denny's. We will leave at 9:00 am, and will caravan 7 miles west on Nevada Hwy 164, (Joshua Tree Hwy/Nipton Road) before turning left on Walking Box Road. 7 1/2 miles down the road, we’ll come across corrals on the right, where there is plenty of parking. Wear good hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, snacks and your walking stick. Dogs are allowed on leash. Please RSVP as space is limited and we want to be able to send last minute details or changes to those who are planning to attend. This event is free, but please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Donations are appreciated and help support our events and work throughout the monument. Thank you!
