Get ready to craft the cutest ceramic gnome to add a touch of whimsy to your home with a glaze-fired finish! Join us in this fun clay project that celebrates the homestead garden. Artist, Tessa Cotta will guide you through a sculptural gnome project. Pre-made clay forms will be available for you to manipulate and add your own, personal touch. You will learn to sculpt and mold the parts of a gnome. The gnomes will be finished by a process called salt firing so that their creative features will shine.
Join us for a fun workshop where you'll learn to create your own ceramic face jug hanging planter! Learn to use handbuilding techniques to create a face jug using high-fire clay! You will have the opportunity to use traditional or modern stories as inspiration to create and attach faces using handbuilding methods on pre-formed clay jugs, which will be fired by our potters. Teaching artist Phyllis Seidner-Vesely will show you how to turn your face jug into a hanging planter.

On the first day, we’ll focus on gathering hot glass from the furnace, using hand tools, blowing a bubble, and practicing production-style blowing techniques. The second day will introduce sculpting wet clay molds and blowing glass into them to create unique shapes and textures. Throughout the workshop, students will receive hands-on instruction and demonstrations from an experienced instructor. By the end of the weekend, participants will have a strong foundation in hot glass techniques and the confidence to continue exploring the craft.
