Find the best education events and make the most of your time in Mahwah. From education to nightlife and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.
This program is free and open to all teachers and school administrators who cover or hope to teach Holocaust and genocide studies. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Coffee, tea, and water will be available throughout the day. Attendees will receive arrival instructions and a more structured agenda closer to the date. PD credits available through NJ DOE. Featuring: National WWII Museum, Hitler’s American Friends, Drew University’s Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study, and Dr. Satarupa Dasgupta, Professor of Communication, Ramapo College. Instilling media literacy skills has become one of the most crucial and challenging tasks for teachers today, due to new technologies and the radical polarization of US politics and culture. This is not a new phenomenon. Joined by additional special guests, Drs. Hart and West will present the history of American pro-Nazi propaganda and organizing in the years preceding the country’s entry into WWII—even our NJ counties. We will then shift our focus to the present, while conscious of historical continuities, to discuss and learn how to equip students with robust media-literacy skills for navigating and participating fruitfully in our divided and hyper-mediated society.
