This presentation will also teach adults how to react responsibly to a child if they make the choice to disclose and how to make a report.

Please join us in Lincoln, Nebraska for the 2026 Missouri Valley Division (MVD) of the International Association of Fire Chief's (IAFC) Annual Conference. There will be exciting speakers, networking with colleagues, and hear from the Missouri Valley Division board about their efforts to support you. Every year the MVD of the IAFC comes together to offer education to the fire service leaders. For three days, you have the opportunity build relationships, explorer the latest topics in the fire service, and refocus your administrative mindset.

Participants will explore proactive back-to-school safety strategies, including how to assess school and extracurricular environments, reinforce healthy boundaries, and support children as they build relationships with new peers and trusted adults. The session also addresses digital safety, online communication, bullying prevention, and peer-related risks commonly associated with the school year. Caregivers will leave with practical tools, clear conversation starters, and increased confidence to create safe, predictable, and supportive environments for children—at school, in after-school activities, online, and at home.
