Love and Friendship and Joy
This Valentine’s season, Charlie Chaplin comes to Crooners in a one-of-a-kind cinematic and musical experience featuring a live chamber orchestra and special guest vocalist Maud Hixson. The evening begins with Maud Hixson performing a collection of mid-century Hollywood jazz hits alongside renowned pianist Rick Carlson. Following this opening set, audiences will be treated to Chaplin’s beloved six-reel masterpiece, The Kid (1921), accompanied by composer Philip Shorey and the Curse of the Vampire Orchestra. Each performance will be followed by a brief interview exploring the timeless art of silent film and the musical traditions of classic Hollywood. Guests can expect an unforgettable evening of laughter, romance, and inspiration — a heartfelt celebration of the golden age of cinema brought to life with live music.

Battery Eyes - Minneapolis Post-Hardcore. Formed in early 2021. In Lieu - From Minneapolis, Minnesota, In Lieu deals in bite-sized anthems, mixing the austerity and belligerence of noise rock with the soaring tunefulness of grunge. Fronted by vocalist/guitarist Nikii Post, the quartet crafts brief bangers out of sludgy and discordant guitars, pummeling drums, and spellbinding vocals. Unstable Shapes - Noisy post-whatever from MPLS. Laura Larson is a musician and artist who currently fronts "post-everything" rock band Scrunchies and an electropunk/noise project.

Virginia’s Basement is a 5-piece, post-hardcore emo band from Saint Paul MN. With sounds similar to Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Title Fight and combined poetry throughout their set, they offer high energy, emotional performances. Surly Grrly is a queercore punk band that likes to have fun while loudly fucking the patriarchy. Pinched.: Happy go lucky/Sad time vibes since 2015. You’ve seen him sulking around Crazy Clyde’s Nightmare Carnival, prepare for the live debut of everyone’s seafaring favorite, MC PIRATE PANTS! Playing all the hits from all seven seas.
