This multi-day course designed for those without an internet connection or access to a computer, or just prefer the in-person learning experience. This class will include classroom instruction on the follow topics: Survival/first aid, Landowner relations, Hunter ethics, Maine hunting laws, Hands-on practice of safe bow equipment handling, Hands-on instruction of map and compass and outdoor survival. At the skills and exam session, students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a bow, and must participate in workshop and session activities, bring a survival kit and pass a 50-question exam with a score of at least 70%
Join us for an in-person Trapper Education course, including field exercises. Get certified to purchase a trapping license in Maine! Maine’s trapper education course provides a foundation of knowledge to ensure that today’s trappers are well educated, responsible, and ethical conservationists. The course includes instruction on the benefits of regulated trapping, proper trapping equipment and use, responsible trap setting, the importance of good wildlife management practices, and habits and traits of furbearers. Classes include classroom and hand-on portions based on availability per location.
