Join the Kennebec County Soil & Water Conservation District and Viles Arboretum for a hands-on Winter Tree Identification Workshop, led by Maine Forest Service District Foresters Julie Davenport and Jared Gregory. This workshop is designed to introduce participants to identifying trees without leaves using buds, bark, and other key winter characteristics. All participants will receive printed winter tree ID resources, including a free Forest Trees of Maine guide.
Enjoy nature-inspired activities for all ages, educational opportunities, entertainment, and our plant and makers market!
Celebrate Earth Day at Viles Arboretum! Children's Activities, Educational Opportunities, Conservation Projects, and more! Sign up for a free tree! Neighborhood Forest. Ways to Participate: Register your child to receive a free tree to plant at home. Purchase trees to plant this spring if you don’t have a child participating (Buy One, Fund One!). Trees will arrive around Earth Day (specific details will be emailed to you closer to the date).
