University of Maryland Eastern Shore Extension will hold a workshop on biosecurity strategies to reduce disease risk for your livestock. Learn about hands-on biosecurity strategies to reduce disease risk for your livestock at a workshop to be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, by University of Maryland Eastern Shore Extension. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the university’s Research, Extension and Teaching Farm on Stewart Neck Road in Princess Anne, MD. It is designed for beginning and small-scale livestock producers, especially those managing poultry, sheep and goats across the Delmarva Peninsula. The workshop will be presented by UMES Extension’s Dr. David Brown, an animal science expert and assistant professor, and Dr. Jennifer Timmons, a poultry specialist and associate professor. They will provide actionable steps to protect animal health, improve farm longevity, and prevent costly disease outbreaks, including avian influenza, in mixed sheep, goat and poultry operations.
