The Silos began as a musical force in 1985 with the release of their first album “About Her Steps” along with a series of gigs in their hometown neighborhood, the East Village of New York City. They were part of New York’s post-punk ‘80s scene and played Indie Rock, Alt-Rock, Alt-Country, and Americana before any critics coined those terms. Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as "America's Best New Band," the resilient Silos mix punk, roots, rock, and sage art-damaged truth telling. Salas-Humara’s narratives take on the weight of attentive, convincing poetry and wry wordplay.
