On the second Saturday of each month, AMOCA's docents offer a guided look into one of our current exhibitions.

This intermediate wheel throwing course is designed for students who are comfortable throwing, trimming and glazing work independently, this class works on consistency in throwing and also using the wheel to create more complex bodies of work, including larger and sculptural forms.

This beginning hand building course is designed to teach the fundamentals of working with clay–no prior experience is necessary. Students will be introduced to basic types of hand building and construction techniques, as well as the basics of glazing.

Looking to fill your Saturday with fun, exciting activities that are all about clay? Come to AMOCA the third Saturday of every month for our Clay Play all ages workshops, where we will offer educational clay activities, admission to our current exhibitions, and undeniable fun for families and caregivers. Make your own animal or monster pinch pot! AMOCA’s family activities are for all ages and everyone is welcome! Both adults and children who register for the Art Activity will be given supplies to participate in the art project.

This six-week, beginning wheel throwing class at the American Museum of Ceramic Art / AMOCA ceramics studio is designed to teach the fundamentals of working with clay on the potter’s wheel—no prior experience is necessary. Students will be introduced to basic throwing shapes, as well as the follow-up steps of trimming, handle making, and glazing. Classes meet once a week for 2.5 hours in the AMOCA Ceramics Studio for six weeks (15 hours of total instruction), and are limited in size to twelve students.
