Explore the vibrant event scene and make the most of your time next 30-days in Young. From art to music and more, we have the biggest event range and best discovery experience, there's something for everyone.
Unleash your inner street artist and transform a can into a masterpiece! Get ready to unleash your creativity at a fun street art workshop with Southern Tablelands Arts and the talented Hilltops street artist Eddie Mo! This is your chance to step into the bold and colourful world of urban art and design your very own “Street Art Can.” These aren’t just any cans, they were originally used for Paint the Town, an evolving digital map celebrating the incredible public murals across the Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands. Now, they’re your canvas. Guided by Eddie, you’ll learn the foundations of street art and creative expression. You’ll discover how artists turn everyday surfaces into eye-catching works of art, and then you’ll put those skills into action, transforming your own can into a vibrant, personalised street art piece. You’ll also get the opportunity to dream big. Participants will create original designs on the day, sharing ideas that reflect youth culture, community, and creativity. Eddie will draw inspiration from your ideas to develop a “concept mural” on canvas, which will be gifted to HYAG. This design could potentially be scaled up and replicated as a large public mural in Young, NSW in the future. This workshop is welcoming, with no experience needed. Whether you’re an emerging artist or just keen to try something new, this is your moment to experiment, collaborate, and have fun. Best of all? Your “Paint The Can” masterpiece is yours to take home.

Bring your imagination to life—one frame at a time! Join us for a hands-on, fun “Stop Frame Animation Workshop” with Southern Tablelands Arts and led by Hilltops filmmaker Kev Greaves, and discover just how much fun you can have bringing everyday objects to life. In this creative session, you’ll learn the basics of stop frame animation, the magical technique behind some of your favourite animated movies and online shorts. Kev will guide you step-by-step through the process, showing you how tiny movements can turn plasticine, LEGO, toys, drawings or random objects into characters bursting with personality. You’ll explore how to build a simple story and add action to your mini movie and the only limit is your imagination. No experience? No worries! This workshop is designed for beginners and curious creatives alike. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your very own short, animated films and your finished movies will be showcased on the Southern Tablelands Arts website, so friends, family and the whole community can see your creation on screen. If you love movies, storytelling, or just making cool things with your hands, this is your chance to press play on your creativity and become an animator for the day.
