Inter-school band day OrchFusion returns, bringing together school-aged musicians from across the region for a day of orchestral collaboration. Designed to connect students through shared music-making, the program creates a vibrant ensemble environment where talent, curiosity, and teamwork take centre stage. Across the day, participants rehearse a diverse repertoire under the guidance of experienced teachers. Students of all instrumental backgrounds (strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, and guitar) work side by side, developing ensemble skills, musical confidence, and a deeper understanding of orchestral performance. Carefully structured sessions ensure every player is challenged, supported, and inspired. The day culminates in an evening concert that showcases the collective effort and energy of the ensemble. OrchFusion offers a professional, encouraging setting where young musicians strengthen technique, build connections across schools, and experience the power of making music together at scale.
Celebrating our student’s achievements with music Across four vibrant concerts, the Conservatorium transforms the Chapel into a place where student accomplishment takes center stage. Each concert offers teachers a moment to acknowledge the dedication that goes into every performance. Students who have completed their AMEB exams are formally presented with certificates, highlighting their discipline and marking an important milestone in their musical development. The day culminates in an evening devoted to small ensembles, bringing together groups whose collaborative energy rounds out the celebration. Each concert is supported by its own accompanist: Natallia Dunn at 12:30 pm, Todd Power at 2:30 pm, and Annette Hamilton at 4:30 pm. All participating students receive a complimentary 30-minute rehearsal, ensuring they step onto the stage prepared and confident for their moment in the spotlight.
