Practical physiotherapy advice to prevent injuries and maintain physical well-being while Landcaring! Landcare volunteering keeps you active, connected and outdoors, but it can also place extra demands on your body. An Ethos Health physiotherapist will lead this supportive and practical session, tailored for Landcare volunteers. This session will cover: Healthy posture and stance, Keeping loads close to the body, Adapting tasks to your limits, Using appropriate tools and assistance, Rotating tasks and taking breaks, Warm ups and stretching. The session is practical, easy to follow and suitable for all fitness levels. Movements and techniques can be adapted to suit individual needs and abilities. Wear comfortable clothing and feel free to bring any questions you may have. A light lunch will be provided before the session begins. This is a free event but bookings are essential as numbers are limited. Preference will be given to currently active Lake Macquarie Landcare volunteers.
Climb aboard The Lady Mac for a writing workshop on beautiful Lake Macquarie. Eco-writing is a contemporary approach to writing about the environment that blends creativity with ecological awareness. This session will combine a delicious morning tea with a relaxing cruise and immersive and nature-focused writing exercises that explore ideas about the relationships between place, space, culture, and identity against the overarching question of how we can better bear witness to a changing world. You’ll enjoy plenty of warm camaraderie and leave with lots of fresh writing inspired by the beautiful waters of Lake Macquarie.
