Join Michele, the shroud maker and Zimmi, the coffin weaver for an immersive weekend of practical and reflective shroud making and weaving. On Saturday Michele will guide the group to create a personalised Shroud....whether for yourself or for a loved one. We will work with natural materials such as threads and flowers to create, embellish, dye and stitch our care, intention and contemplation into our Shroud, We will discuss the history and roles shrouding has played in caring for community and the deceased.....and how rituals of washing and wrapping the body is the last act of care and farewell. Those who choose to, can experience being shrouded. On Sunday we will work together to weave and create a shroud carrier from Cats Claw vine. In the weaving we will work with rhythm, repetition and the plant fibres to create a beautiful and natural container for the body. Both Zimmi and Michele work within regenerative and sustainability creative practices. They are experienced facilitators who support beginners and those with no experience in Weaving, Stitching or dyeing to create unique and deeply satisfying creations All materials will be supplied for the Sundays shroud carrier weaving. Basic materials will be supplied for the creation of your textile Shroud. A list of suggested materials will be sent to all on enrolment The workshop is for a full weekend immersion and open to 10 participants
