Staff from the AmeriCorps Community Training Program will lead this overdose rescue training session. Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is a nasal spray used to reverse opioid overdoses. During this training session, you will learn how to safely administer Narcan to someone experiencing an overdose. The training also covers: The magnitude of the opioid crisis and its impact on our community, How to recognize the signs of an overdose, How to respond to an overdose, including performing CPR, Aftercare considerations for overdose survivors, How to use fentanyl test strips. At the end of the training, all participants receive an Overdose Rescue Kit containing Narcan—an easy-to-use nasal spray that reverses opioid overdoses. Fentanyl test strips will also be available to anyone who wants them.
