Learn to build an elegant Windsor stool, a great first step toward making fine furniture. In this three-day workshop, Annalise Rubida will teach you basic skills needed for chair making, including tapered and angled mortise & tenon joinery and seat carving techniques traditional to Windsor chair making.
Delve into an ancient skill known as peg loom weaving and create a cozy wool seat cushion. Colors of the Night Sky is a one-day workshop where you will learn how to use a peg loom. Use of a peg loom, tools, and all fibers needed are included in the workshop cost. No experience necessary.
Sean Mewshaw directs an all-star cast in David Mamet's legendary play Glengarry Glen Ross, produced by SPACE at O'Maine Studios. David Mamet’s Pulitzer-prize winning, darkly funny tragedy bursts at the seams with wild language and wrestles with sticky themes — shriveling toxic masculinity, morality among thieves, the capitalist fetishization of domination and exploitation as fundamental economic practice — and unravels a swindle peddled by swindlers who are themselves getting constantly swindled. The American Dream of land ownership these desperate men are selling has no value, but the men have no value if they’re not selling the paper-thin dream with every ounce of their blackened hearts.
Get started on your embroidery journey by learning the basics of hand embroidery, from fabric choice to different stitch techniques. In this two-day class, June 10 & 17, 6-9 pm, you’ll start work on a full-color embroidery piece based on a photo or illustration, with a focus on color shading and creating lyrical line drawings with thread. (No drawing experience required!) Beginners will learn how to use a hoop, select threads and fabrics, transfer the design to fabric, different stitching techniques, and finishing a hoop in different ways. Students with some experience will explore new techniques or dive deeper into the things you enjoy about embroidery. A hoop and all needed tools and materials are provided. Some homework is recommended, but not required, between sessions.
