This symposium will explore practical strategies for integrating intersectional awareness into the courts. This symposium training explores the critical role of intersectionality in family violence courts, examining how overlapping identities—such as race, gender, socioeconomic status, disability, immigration status, and sexuality—shape survivors’ experiences within the legal system. The program features a multidisciplinary panel of legal professionals, advocates, and culturally specific service providers who will discuss real-world challenges and promising practices for advancing equity in family violence court responses. Participants will leave with practical strategies to apply an intersectional lens to judicial decision-making, courtroom advocacy, and survivor-centered practice.
