According to the St. Augustine Record, what makes these 94 privately-held acres special is the variety of natural habitats and ecosystems they contain, the names of which read like poetry: riverine grassbeds, hardwood swamp, silverculture, cypress domes and pine hammocks. The river and its shoreline are watched over by Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Belted Kingfishers and Brown Pelicans. While the trip is free, there is a suggested donation of $10 for the Preserve.
