Mary Lattimore is a harpist and composer living in Los Angeles. She experiments with her Lyon and Healy Concert Grand harp and effects, filling a musical universe with memories, scenes, and split-second impressions. As one of today’s preeminent instrumental storytellers, she has “the uncanny ability to pluck a string in a way that will instantly make someone remember the taste of their fifth birthday cake," writes Pitchfork's Jemima Skala. Lattimore's impulse to record life as it happens matches her drive to travel and perform, as profiled by Grayson Haver Currin for The New York Times: "Lattimore recognized that being in motion shook loose strands of inspiration, moods she wanted to express with melody. She needed, then, to remain on the go." That sense of fluidity has also made her a prolific collaborator outside of solo work; Lattimore also writes harp parts for songs and recordings, performing and recording with such great artists as Meg Baird, Thurston Moore, Sharon Van Etten, Jarvis Cocker, Kurt Vile, Steve Gunn, Ed Askew and Fursaxa. A special opening live performance from the Classical Synthesizer Quartet.

The enchanting and effervescent ukulele chanteuse Janet Klein performs obscure, naughty and lively tunes from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Janet and her Los Angeles based band “The Parlor Boys” share spirited and inspired renditions of Tin Pan Alley, early hot jazz, vaudeville & ragtime and other early 20th Century rare gems performing at historic theaters in Los Angeles and other landmark venues and around the world. Janet has produced 12 CDs with her group since 1998. Their CD release “Living In Sin” was voted in the Top Ten Jazz and Pop Critic’s Award Poll of the Village Voice. For more information visit: www.janetklein.com, www.janetklein.bandcamp.com and instagram @janetklein Because of the incredible generosity of the Townhouse, all ticket sales for this event will be dedicated to the Venice Heritage Museum - preserving, showcasing, and nurturing the diverse cultural heritage and histories of Venice, CA. https://www.veniceheritagemuseum.org/
