Vernaculars, a collective ensemble of Bay Area-based artists, will perform Sonny Sharrock's final album 'Ask the Ages', featuring a twin-guitar frontline by Karl Evangelista and David James. The event is a rare performance of this influential free jazz album in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, $15 for students/low-income individuals, and children under 12 are free. The venue, The Back Room, is an all-ages, BYOB space, ADA accessible, and encourages mask use for safety.

A Night of Queering Folk Tradition featuring Clarissa Bitar and Corazón de Cedro Duet

Makuru features Mandjou Kone, a renowned singer from Burkina Faso, weaving traditional music and dance into her performances. Rasa Lila brings the ancient call-and-response tradition of Kirtan to the East Bay, led by KPFA Music of the World host Joanna Manqueros on harmonium and vocals, with driving tabla rhythms and resonant bass clarinet. Join in community for an experience that is both grounding and energizing.
Makuru features beloved Bay Area world musicians on bass, guitar, drum set and traditional African musical instruments. Makuru was created by Peter Warren and features Mandjou Kone, a renowned singer from Burkina Faso. She weaves traditional music and dance into her performances. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children under 12 are free.
