The Blair Witch Project at The Revival House Perth In October 1994, three student filmmakers—Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael Williams—venture into Maryland's Black Hills Forest to investigate the local legend of the Blair Witch. Armed with cameras and camping gear, they interview locals about the mysterious disappearances and child murders attributed to the witch, then hike deep into the woods to find the ruins where the supposed rituals took place. What begins as a documentary project quickly devolves into a nightmare when the trio becomes hopelessly lost. As tensions rise and supplies dwindle, strange sounds echo through the night, mysterious stick figures appear outside their tent, and something unseen stalks them through the trees. One year later, their footage is found—this is that footage. Directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez revolutionized horror cinema with this 1999 phenomenon, pioneering the found-footage genre and proving that what you don't see is far more terrifying than what you do. Shot for virtually nothing with handheld cameras and improvised performances, the film's raw authenticity creates an oppressive sense of dread that builds to an unforgettable climax. The naturalistic acting—the cast used their real names and genuinely didn't know what scares awaited them each night—makes every moment of mounting panic feel disturbingly real. The brilliant viral marketing campaign that preceded the release convinced many viewers the footage was genuine, creating a cultural moment that transcended cinema. No gore, no monsters, just three people lost in the woods—and the creeping certainty that they're not alone. Original format and audio experience of this film faithfully reproduced by The Revival House. Presented in 35mm film unless noted otherwise. When: Friday, February 6th at 7:30PM Where: The Revival House at the Como Theatre Rating: MA 15+ (Medium level coarse language) The film that changed horror forever—experience the original found-footage nightmare that still has the power to terrify, in 35mm film.

When a series of mysterious attacks devastates fishing fleets in the South Pacific, nuclear scientist Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick) is recruited to investigate what the French secret service already suspects: decades of nuclear testing have created something unprecedented. That something arrives in spectacular fashion when a 300-foot irradiated lizard emerges from the ocean and heads straight for Manhattan. As Godzilla tears through the city with terrifying speed and cunning, leaving destruction in his wake, the U.S. military struggles to stop a creature that defies all conventional weapons. Tatopoulos teams up with his ex-girlfriend, ambitious reporter Audrey Timmonds (Maria Pitillo), mysterious French agent Philippe Roaché (Jean Reno), and cameraman Animal (Hank Azaria) to uncover Godzilla's true purpose—and the horrifying discovery that Manhattan's destruction is just the beginning. Director Roland Emmerich brings his disaster movie expertise to Toho's iconic kaiju, reimagining Godzilla as a swift, animalistic predator rather than the lumbering force of nature from Japanese cinema. The 1998 film showcases groundbreaking CGI and practical effects that bring the massive creature to life with remarkable detail, from his thunderous footsteps shaking the city to his whip-like tail demolishing buildings. The film's standout sequence—a pulse-pounding chase through Madison Square Garden filled with newly hatched offspring—delivers pure monster movie thrills. David Arnold and Michael Kamen's rousing score captures both the spectacle and terror, while the destruction of New York landmarks provides jaw-dropping set pieces. Though divisive among purists, this American Godzilla remains a spectacular creature feature of its era. Original format and audio experience of this film faithfully reproduced by The Revival House. Presented in 35mm film unless noted otherwise. When: Saturday, February 7th at 7:00PM Where: The Revival House at the Como Theatre Rating: PG (Medium level violence, Low level coarse language) Size does matter—witness Emmerich's supersized creature feature rampage through Manhattan in 35mm film.
