An educational simulation of Trauma Management for patients presenting for urgent care at the Bordertown Hospital. This session will consist of a combination of hands on and didactic information. Outcomes for this session include Be familiar with South Australian Statewide trauma activation criteria and trauma response relevant to our local health network. Be confident in employing a structured approach to the primary survey and recognition of immediate life-threats in trauma. Know the immediate life-saving interventions that form part of the trauma primary survey – including finger thoracostomy, intercostal catheter insertion, traction splinting, and pelvic splinting. This program is suitable for ALL staff who work in the Emergency Care Setting. Particularly Medical Staff, RMO's/JMO's, Associateship in Emergency Medicine Candidates- Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced, GPs, Nurses, Career Paramedics, and Medical and Nursing Students. This will be held in the Large Casualty room at Bordertown Hospital. A light lunch will be provided. Places are limited and priority will be given to individuals who provide Emergency Care in the Limestone Coast Local Health Network.
