Celebration of Cultures Morning Tea
Learn about mobility and daily living aids that are commonly required in palliative and end-of-life care. This workshop is run by the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme, with support of the First Nations Community-Based Palliative Care Program. There will be a focus on wheelchairs, wheeled walkers, and bathing & toileting aids. During this session we will cover principles of assessment and measuring clients and their environment, selecting suitable equipment for a palliative care client, adjusting wheelchairs and other mobility & daily living aids for the right setup for your client, and cleaning and maintaining mobility & daily living aids.
Learn about the role of equipment in pressure injury prevention in palliative and end-of-life care. During this session we will cover; Pressure injuries and end-of-life skin changes, Pressure injury risk assessment, Assessing clients for suitable pressure relieving equipment, Selecting suitable cushions and mattresses for palliative care clients, The role of bed positioning in palliative care, Other prevention strategies.
Learn about continence management in palliative and end-of-life care. During this session we will cover; Principles of continence assessment, Recommended lifestyle changes to lessen the impact of incontinence, Selecting, trialling and organising continence aids, including pads, slips, protectors and sheaths, Building a comprehensive continence management plan around continence aids.
